TROY, N.Y. -- Some Troy residents are coming together to try to find solutions to the problems young people are facing in their city during tonight's "Meeting of African American Minds to Save our Children."
On Tuesday night, organizer Rev. Willie Bacote of Missing Link United Church led a walk through city streets hoping to spread the word about efforts to rid the streets of drugs, guns and violence.

Bacote said, "We are going to keep coming out. We are going to keep marching. We are going to keep doing whatever is necessary to send a message that we are determined to keep our streets safe for our kids and violence out of our community."
The walk ended at Powers Park with a prayer vigil. Bacote hopes to start a gun buyback program later this month, similar to the one currently underway in Albany.
Tonight's meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Rainbow Fallon Center on River Street.
