ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- There is no better time than this weekend to add a new pet to your family because a local humane society is making it a little easier.
The Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society is hosting the second annual Feline Festival throughout the weekend. In the festival's debut, the humane society adopted out more than 100 cats. People who wish to adopt a cat can do so for half the normal adoption fee, but workers are still warning folks about the cost of ownership itself.

“Although we discount the adoption fees for the cats during this time, the cost for caring for them doesn't get any cheaper. So we're hoping people will also donate if you can't come get a cat to help subsidize the discount adoptions for those people who get a cat,” said Brad Shear of the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society.
All the cats up for adoption have already been spayed or neutered and have been to the vet.
